General Motors announced that it plans on reinstating over half of the dealerships that it had selected to originally drop from their company. The automaker announced on Friday that it plans of offering 600 of its dealerships the choice to remain with the company after they had already informed them that they would be letting them go.

GM had previously said that it will need to downsize the amount of showrooms that it has so that it can keep the remaining ones on track for the scheduled restructuring. This was announced along with a list of 2,000 dealerships that would no longer be supported by GM; this list was reduced to 1,100 earlier this year and now another 600 may be able to keep its affiliation with GM.

There have been many critics saying that GM has not described how they have decided which dealerships it will keep open to the satisfaction of the public. There are still many dealers that are making a profit but still have a large risk margin associated with them.
